No. 1.
Sir J. Jordan to Sir Edward Grey.-(Received May 11.)
(Telegraphic.) R.
YOUR telegram No. 82 of 10th May.
Peking, May 11, 1911.
Liated opium in Hong Kong amounts only to 1,330 chests, for which Customs will, if requested, provide bonded warehouse accommodation at Canton, and it should not be difficult for banks and importers financing it to agree to its transfer there.
Customs would like to have carly notice of accommodation required. Question of agent or representative at Canton, where there are numerons British firms, is, I submit, one for opium merchants themselves.
